Projects
Upsilon Pi Epsilon is working hard on a number of different projects to improve the experience of students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Please review our projects below and contact us if you are interested in assisting in their development.
- Club Hosting Resources
UPE provides rack space in Amos Eaton for technology-oriented groups and projects on campus looking for hosting.
- Course Evaluation System
The course evaluation system gives students a route to share their experiences with other students regarding courses and materials.
- Essentials for Computer Science lectures
A set of lectures created to give students core materials for developing their skills as computer scientists. These lectures are presented semesterly to anyone interested but are available online for review by anyone.
- Programming Competition Grading Server
This server powers the RCOS/ACM/UPE semesterly programming competitions. Participants submit solutions to a variety of problems and the server evaluates their algorithms by testing them against a number of input conditions, checking for correctness and time efficiency. This semester's focus is improving the user interface to the server.
- Rensselaer Open Course Scheduler (ROCS)
A JSR-168 portlet adaptation of the popular RPI Scheduler which uses a feed from Integrated Administrative Computing Solution (IACS) to give students the most up-to-date information when registering for courses. ROCS will also use Banner to schedule courses directly on the student's behalf.
- Resume Compilation Book
UPE prepares a resume booklet for distribution at campus career fairs which contains members' resumes. This book is compiled twice a year and includes resumes for full-time, part-time, and internship positions.
- Tutoring Management System
UPE has offered tutoring services for a number of years using a very ad-hoc approach which underutilizes available tutors. We are developing a new, web-based system to help better schedule students needing assistant with tutors who will best be able to serve them.
